I have an eLibrary!

I think I am more of a book collector now, seeing that I did not finish the last book I attempted to read (which is probably more than a year old by now) due to distractions of real life. I should seriously strand myself on an island until I finish reading all the books in New York Public Library.

Fortunately, with some deft Internet maneuvering I managed to acquire some of the books I have always wanted to read including newly discovered genres/authors as wells as revisiting – more like graduating to unabridged versions of – evergreen classics. I feel like I just came from the stone age whats with the immense number of recent publication and storyline continuation of novels I have read back in high school. Yes, we were blissfully ignoring the teacher at the front while excitedly perusing the pages of our forbidden tomes.

I am even gamely trying to listen to audiobooks since studying(textbooks)+reading(novels) is like doing a back to back shift of nerding. After all, we all need a little variety to spice up our…reading life, not to mention accommodate our hectic schedule mostly taken up by commuting. The only drawback would be backtracking the audio file when

(a) interrupted by an aggressive driver which you feel the need to curse and honk at.

(b) you fell asleep in the commuter.

(c) explanation of technicalities, a complex thought process, lists etc.

(d) someone chats up to you.

But you can always fumble for the pause button for (d).

Progression into electronic reading seem to be the trend nowadays much to the dismay of puritanical readers who finds it sacrilegious to read anything but a physical book with pages that makes a satisfying flapping sound when turned. But don’t mind them being uptight and conservative since climate change will soon force them to adapt from inviting inked parchments and page turning to glaring cold pixel screens and mile-long scrolling.
